Only for BIG fans of the 2600

This was a bad game for the 2600 and an even worse app for the iPhone. I do not know why anyone would want to remake this title…

This is a primitive shooter that inspired many great games to come on the arcade and NES, but unfortunately it does not stand the test of time. The biggest difference between this plane shooter is that the player has to worry about gas and stop by “fuel stations”. This is definitely not very fun – shooting enemy planes is fun, which is probably why later shooters do not include worrying about gas.

The best thing about the app is the title screen music. But that is pretty much it. The title screen menu looks blurry and very unprofessional, and there are game breaking issues. Sometimes when the game is closed and reopened, the buttons do not work and the application must be closed. Often, the music will completely cut out.

The worst thing about this game are the controls. When starting the first level, the player will lose if the iPhone is not completely flat. The hit detection is confusing and I often crash into boats, planes, or walls, which is very frustrating.

I would only recommend this app to those who remember playing it as a kid…
